IMPAC7
IMPAC7 Aotearoa New Zealand
Blue Cradle Foundation is working with partners across Aotearoa New Zealand and the Pacific to explore another bid for the International Marine Protected Areas Congress (IMPAC7) in 2030/31.
Building on the success of New Zealand’s bid for IMPAC6, which was ranked second internationally before Senegal was selected to host the congress in March 2027, we believe Aotearoa New Zealand has a unique opportunity to bring the world’s leading marine conservation event to the Pacific.
Over the next nine months, we will work with iwi, communities, government agencies, scientists, NGOs and international partners to assess the feasibility of a future bid and build a shared vision for IMPAC7.
Our ambition is to showcase Pacific leadership in marine conservation, scientific and technological innovation, Indigenous stewardship, ocean literacy and collaborative ocean governance on the global stage.
