Blue Cradle Foundation Seeks New Trustees to Support Our Next Chapter
As the Blue Cradle Foundation enters a new phase of growth and transition, we are seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees.
Since our establishment, Blue Cradle has worked to advance ocean literacy, marine conservation, and environmental stewardship in Aotearoa New Zealand and across the Pacific. Through initiatives such as Blue Schools, Seaweek, Tiaki Moana, and international collaborations, our work continues to grow in scale, impact, and ambition.
To support this next chapter, we are looking to strengthen our governance and welcome new trustees who can contribute their expertise, networks, and time to help guide the organisation’s future.
We are particularly seeking individuals who are based in Christchurch or the wider Canterbury region.
As a locally grounded organisation with growing national and international reach, we value trustees who can actively engage with our programmes, events, and partnerships in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
We are particularly seeking experience or expertise in:
- Governance and strategic leadership
- Financial oversight and accountability
- Fundraising, philanthropy, and grant writing
- Ocean literacy and environmental education
- Nature conservation policy and environmental management
- International environmental governance and institutions, including knowledge of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), United Nations processes, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)
- Te Tiriti o Waitangi, mātauranga Māori, and Pacific perspectives are highly valued
A voluntary role with meaningful impact
Serving as a trustee is a voluntary role. We are seeking individuals who have the time, commitment, and energy to dedicate themselves to a cause greater than themselves.
Our trustees play a vital role in ensuring strong governance, accountability, and strategic direction while supporting Blue Cradle’s mission to foster deeper connections between people and the ocean.
Above all, we are looking for people who share a passion for the environment and believe in the power of education, storytelling, and collaboration to inspire positive change.
Blue Cradle Foundation especially welcomes applications from Māori, Pacific peoples, and individuals from diverse backgrounds whose perspectives can strengthen our mission and governance.
If you are interested in helping shape the future of ocean literacy and marine conservation in Aotearoa New Zealand and the Pacific, we would love to hear from you.
Please send expressions of interest, including a short biography and relevant experience, to: contact@bluecradle.org
Deadline: July 15th
Together, we can help nurture a generation of ocean stewards.
